My Paper Pumpkin August 2015

I finally had some time to sit down and play with my Paper Pumpkin from August.  I only left one of the boxes in tact.  I cut the other two down to use the gold polka card stock.  I made a couple different cards.  I love the the cards in this kit but I felt it was a waste to use them as the card bases.  So I folded the cards and trimmed the card at the fold.  So instead of 3 of each pattern I now have 6 each.    I love the pink flowers but I don't really like the "centers" for the flowers so I took the squiggly circle and stamped it in the center of the flower.  I punched a 1" circle in black card stock and edged it with the craft white and that became the center for my flower.  For my card bases I used some of the SU note cards that I had on hand.  I used the craft ink to edge the black pieces that I used to make the tags.  On the first card I trimmed the gold and pink bow paper with some black card stock. The black ribbon also comes in the kit this month and used that on a couple of cards.  In the second photo, I used the cheater bow technique and of all the cards I made I think this one is my favorite.  I think it looks very elegant.  I will have some more photos tomorrow and will be showing the Simon Says Stamp September kit and some projects from that.  I will also be showing some new goodies that I got from the August release of MFT stamps. Tiddly Inks Alison the Witch

Hello everyone!  Happy Sunday.  Today I have card that uses a digital image.  I am fairly new to using digital images but  love it.  A couple of tips if you are new as well.  I have been told that the printer you use to print them doesn't matter but I have had more success using my laser printer which uses a toner based ink.  I don't get the smudging and bleeding like I did when I used an ink jet to print my images.  The other tip is that I let the image cool before working with it, mostly as precaution on my end.  So anyway, today I am using an image from Tiddly Inks.  It is called Alison the Witch, next to Christmas I LOVE making Halloween cards which is why I used this image.  I printed her several times (just in case) on X-press Blending card which is Copic friendly card stock.  I did several practices Alison's but finally chose this one.

  I am going to break the card down for you and hope that I don't get to long winded =).  For the background I used mostly distress inks.  I masked off a portion of the card and then I started with Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pumice Stone.  I used the round mini blender for all of my blending. Once I had the concentration of Pumice Stone that I wanted I switched to Black Soot and covered the entire area.  I flipped my card stock and started on the night sky.  I started with Tumbled Glass and put down a base coat.  Then I used Broken China and was going to finished with Faded Jeans but got lazy
because I only have the distress marker for Faded Jeans so it was taking "forever".  So I grabbed my Memento Dew Drop of Nautical Blue and finished the sky and got the color I was looking for.
  I let all the ink dry and was looking at it and decided that I needed something more for the background so I thought why not go all crazy with more new to me things.  I broke out my texture paste from Ranger.  I have watched several videos where people added ink to color the paste so I thought what could I mix with the paste to make it not so white on my deep blue background.  I finally decided to mix in a little bit of Silver Liquid Pearls.  It did soften the white but didn't give it any shimmer so I added some clear Wink of Stella on some of the stars which I don't think shows very well in the photo.  The fence and the black cat are from MFT Spooky Scene die-namics. You could make a Halloween card just using the die if you wanted.  Now for Alison.  I used all Copic markers for my coloring except for the green on her hat and her corset.  I wanted to make her dress a purple color.  I have built my supply of Copics but I have more hair and ski tones so I used the one purple I had which is V17.  I didn't do a whole lot of shading more just coloring on her dress and hat.  On her corset I used my Zig Clean Color Brush #200 which is Light Green but I thought it was a nice contrast.  I am getting a head of myself--so much for not being long winded. I started with the skin because I figured if I didn't stay in the lines it would be okay.  Plus some of the skin area is very tiny.  I used the E21 first and then I softened it with E11 and then used E00 to blend them both out.  I tried to add some blush to her cheeks but it is hard to see.  I used R30 for that.  For the crow, I used C5  and then just a little highlight with C9.  Finally for her hair, I struggled because I didn't want to do brown or blonde so I did black.  This I did blend.  I started with C9, I laid down some color at the bottom of her and at the top under hat, then I took C7 and I started with it on the C9 and blended it out, to finish her hair color I used C5 to smooth out all the lines out.  I was afraid the crow would blend into her hair but once it dried he was noticeably.  To finish her off I used my clear Wink of Stella on her dress and hat to add more sparkle.  My greeting is just something I typed on my computer and then printed.  I used some random scrap of card stock to frame it.  I took my blender tool and used the black soot to soften the white card stock so it wasn't so bright.  To adhere the fence, I put it through my Xyron sticker maker.  I have learned to rub the die cut once I have it adhered to get rid of the extra adhesive that you get. Once I had the fence down I adhered Alison with foam tape and of course I fussy cut her own and used my black Copic marker to hide the white edge from cutting her out.  I wasn't sure where to put the cat so I adhered him to her skirt and Wink of Stella'd him as well.  I slid the greeting under Alison's hair a little bit.  I trimmed the image piece with some black card stock.  I had a scrap of Bazzill shimmer in a purple color along the bottom as a pop of color.  I love how she turned out.  I hope you will get inspired to check out Tiddly Inks and try a digital image.  Thanks for stopping by.

Banner Summer

 Happy almost Friday.  It has been a crazy week so I have been posting at night instead of having the time to schedule the posts which is why they have been so late.  So today's card is another card using the Simon Says Stamp kit.  I love this kit, I know I have said every time I post a card but it is too true.  I used an A2 card base in white.  I Cut three different sizes of banners and layer them on the card.  I used another image from the patterned paper.  I picked this one because it lists some of my favorite things about summer.  I used more of the white dots from my local Michael's. So this is the card for today. I am hoping to get some more posts scheduled because will be packing up and moving so I

Sweet Summer

I am loving this Simon Says Stamp kit.  Today's card doesn't have any stamping just accessories.  The card base is 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  The image is from the included 6 x 6 paper pack that you receive in the kit.  The only thing on the card that didn't come from the kit is the white dots.  I got those at my local Michael's in the dollar bins that they have.  I put a piece of the rainbow washi tape along the fold.  Then I cut a sheet of the Popsicle and ice cream cone paper to the length of the card and 2 1/2 inches wide.  I placed it so it was even with the washi tape (mostly).  The image is framed with another piece of the patterned paper in the teal.  I popped that up on 1/4 squares.  I put the dots in the corners and then three along the fold and that is the card for today.  Thanks for stopping by.  Come and create with me.  Andi

The Sun is Out

Happy Tuesday!  Today's card is made from the Simon Says Stamp June card kit.  I love this kit and wanted to place with minimal stamping.  I stamped the smile in black and on the inside I stamped the "sun is out" in black.  The image on the front is a piece of the Sunshine cardstock.  I took the sunglasses  sticker and put it on the sun and used the flower for the dot in the "i" in smile.  I used a piece of the Sunshine yellow on a white card base.  I used the rainbow washi tape along the side.  A simple card but so happy because of the vibrant colors.  The next several posts will feature this kit as I am in love with it.  So that is the card for today.  Thanks for stopping by.  Come and create something with me.  Andi.

One more May Paper Pumpkin

 Welcome to June.  Today's card was a quick and easy card.  I used a few of the scraps from the May Paper Pumpkin that I had left.  I stamped Celebrate in Tangelo Twist and then stamped the balloon in Real Red, stamped it off and then stamped it over the celebrate. I used my Zig writer to draw the string and the circle is adhered to a piece of scrap from the one bag I cut up to use.  I took a piece of 4 x 5 piece of white card stock and covered it with a doubled up piece of the yellow tissue paper from the kit.  I adhered the image to the tissue paper piece.  I added 6 white sugar dots that I got at my local Michael's.  I stamped "happy birthday" on the inside and stamped three balloons, Lost Lagoon, Coastal Cabana, and Marina Mist.  I stamped the string from the stamp set in black ink and that finishes the card for today.  I did want to add that I put clear Wink of Stella on the balloon on the outside of the card but it is very hard to see in my picture.  I am accumulating a nice stack of cards from doing blog posts more frequently and I am crafting more which makes me happy.  Thanks for stopping by.  Come and create something with me.  Andi
