WIld About You

Hi Stampers!  Happy Sunday!  Hope everyone has had a great weekend.  I have a new card for you today and an exciting announcement...well its exciting for me.  I am going to start my own YouTube channel.  I will probably only do one video a week to start because a friend is going to help me video until I get all the equipment I need to do it on my own.  Which brings me to today's card.  This card was made using products from the August Flavor of the Month kit brought to us by Scrapping for Less.  These kits sell out really fast so if you like what see, you might want to consider a signing up for the subscription.  I subscribe to the Banana Split level of the kit which is $35 a month plus shipping.  It is a great value for the money. This card was made using a piece of the kraft card stock that came in the kit along with the pattern paper is from two different levels of the kit, the green dots is from the Natural Dots by Bo Bunny and the flower pattern is from Jungle Safari by Echo Park.  The image and sentiment are from Pink and Main and because I want it I can't find the name of the stamp set that came in the kit.  I will try to edit the post to add the name.  Anywho, I used the "Wild About You" sentiment and the platypus image.  I originally started out stamping the image and sentiment with Almond Latte ink that comes in the kit but it wasn't dark enough to stamp on the canvas tag that came in the kit.  So I riffled through my stash and used Early Expresso from Stampin UP!  Once I had the image and sentiment stamped dark enough, I adhered the tag at an angle onto the card.  The kit also include the little flowers and leaf in the bottom left corner.  So I popped those on with glue dots.  I added someone sparkle stickles to the center of the flowers.  I also used some black pearl pen at the top and bottom right.  So the main reason I used this card today is because my first video will be an unboxing of the new Flavor of the Month kit from Scrapping for Less called Pumpkin & Spice.  I have seen the kit so I am super excited for my unboxing and I will do a 10 cards one kit for my second video with this kit.  So stay tuned for the video of my reveal of the kit. Thank you for stopping by.  Come and create something with me.

Looking for my Mummy

Hello stampers!  I have another Halloween card for you today.  This is a case of a card I made several years ago.  It is a little time consuming but easy to put together and SO cute.  The card is a standard A2 card with an orange card base.  The mummy's wrappings are one inch strips of card stock that I tore the edges, to give it a bandage look. The dirty look is achieves from taking a sponge applicator and ink.  I used Almond Latte from Your Next Stamp.  This was an ink cube that I received in a kit.  I applied the ink all over the strip, heavier on the torn edges.  I forgot to mention that they strips are made from Ivory cardstock that I picked up at Michaels, 110 lb weight.  If you wanted to use a lightr weight card stock for the strips that would be okay.  So once I had the the strips all ready to go, I took a small panel about 3 1/2 by 4 to make the mummy.  I used six strips for the mummy.  I arranged to look like they were "wrapped".  I used my tape runner to adhere them down and any pieces that hung over I just trimmed off with my scissors.  Previously when I made this card the eyes were made using orange, black, and white card stock circles to make the eyes.  Today's card has googly eyes.  I found these at my local Dollar Tree and there is a mixture of sizes and colors.  Once I had the eyes down.I adhered my mummy to a piece of black card stock and attached it to the card base.  The longest part of this card was the distress of strips.  Cute, easy, and fun for all ages.  Thanks for stopping by today.  Come and create something with me.

Getting ready for the Witching Hour!

Hello everyone!  I have a quick Halloween card for you today.  I realize that it isn't October yet but I have to tell you that Halloween cards are my absolute FAVORITE cards to make.  I probably make more Halloween cards than any other. On to the card. My image comes from a Crafter's Companion set called Best Witches.   I love this image.  I used Spectrum Noir Markers and Sparkle pens to color this image.  I apologize  because I misplaced my paper with the colors that I used written down.  I will do better next time.  Once I had the image all colored I fussy cut it out.  I took a black brush marker and colored the edges so it looked more finished.  The background was created by using Wilted Violet and Fossilized Amber Distress inks from Tim Holtz.  I adhered the image to my back ground piece and then took foam dots and placed them under the shoes to give the card a little more dimension.  The other think I did was took Glossy Accents and covered the bubbles that were spilling out of the cauldron.  I used a piece of black simmer paper to frame my background piece.  The card base I used is one that I got from stash, it is premade and I got a whole box at Michaels for like $8.  The color didn't quite match so I took the fossilized amber and put a layer on top of my premade base.  I stamped the sentiment "Best Witches" with black ink, fishtailed both ends.  Then I took my piece and put it in the tentacles like the octopus was holding it.  Finished with some orange stickles and that is my card for today.  Thank you for stopping by.

Foiling week Day 3--Transfer Gel

 

 

Hey Stampers.  Thanks for stopping by.  I don't have a card tonight but a technique for you, using the Deco Foil Transfer Gel.  This gel is wonderful.  I took a stencil I had and made my own dotted, foiled background.  The one possible negative of this technique is that it takes a LONG time to dry.  The picture in the bottom right is how the gel looks after you apply to your card stock, the first photo top left is how it looks dry and the last dotted photo is how it looks after you run it through your laminator.  Now this picture is very "raw" and did this to show you that anywhere there is gel, the foil will apply to the gel.  So it looks kind of like a hot mess but I will cut this down and you won't be able to really even tell.  There are also so imperfections on my dots and that is from not get a smooth application of the gel.  Most of those I can cover when I use this piece on a card.  I hope you are enjoying my foil presentations as much as I am.  Tomorrow I will be back with another card using the foil the mates from Gina K Designs and this time I will be showcasing a birthday card.  Thanks for stopping by.

Foiling Day 2-Spotlight Crafter's Companion

Hey Stampers!  Happy Tuesday!  Thank you for joining me for foiling day 2.  I am part of the US Crafter's Companion Design Team and we were challenged to foil something other than card stock.  I had this 3x5 frame laying around in a drawer so I used it.  I used the foil and floral images from this kit still available exclusively at HSN.  The kit that had the sentiments is sold out.  However stay tuned to HSN on August 16th where Crafter's Companion will have some Holiday Foil Transfer kits available.

Crafter's Companion Foil Transfer kits are different because there sentiments and images are a sticky glue that you apply with a craft stick or to get really good pressure send it through your die cutting machine.  Obviously I couldn't do that with glass so I really went over the image and sentiment several times.  I then used the red foil from the kit.  I put it back in the frame to get a picture.  I love how this turned out so you might see more of the this kind of project with the Crafter's Companion Foil Transfer kits.  Thank you for stopping by and come back tomorrow for more foiling from Gina K and Crafter's Companion.  Come and create with me.

Foil Week Day--Featuring Christmas Foil Mates from Gina K

Hey stampers!  Thanks for stopping by.  Today's post is about foiling.  This is something I that I love because I love the shiny aspect of the sentiment and the images.  The focus of today's foil and foil products is Gina K Designs.  Just this year Gina K has teamed up with Thermo Web to bring us some fantastic products. (No I don't have anything to do with Gina K Designs) So today's cards feature the Christmas foil mates that can be found here along with some gorgeous red foil called Red Velvet also found here.  The designer paper is from Crafter's Companion and it is called Festive Wonder. The mirror card stock along with the glitter card stock are part of the Luxury Card Stock in the red from Crafter's Companion.  I used my Royal Sovereign laminator that I purchased from Amazon.  The down side to foiling---it is hard to get good photos (at least for me) of what the finished product looks.  The first card, the sentiment and the snowflakes are hot foiled and the other 2 cards just the sentiments are foiling.  Come back tomorrow and I will show how to use foil transfers from Crafter's Companion.  Thank you for stopping by.  Come and create something with me.

Happy Birthday Sunshine!!!

Long time no see!  I realize it has been a while since I have posted and my explanation is my laptop died.  However, my husband recently built me a new desktop so I am back in business with blog posts.  So for my first post in a while I am showcasing a birthday card.  The image is one of my favorite images from Tiddly Inks called Fairy Sunny day.  The card is 8 1/2 by 5 1/2  which is a lot larger than I would normally make but the image itself I printed really big so I needed to make a bigger size card.  The card base is made from Sunshine card stock from Simon Says Stamp.  I used Spectrum Noir color blend pencils to color my image.  The flower petals I colored first with Spectrum Noir C1, C2, and C4.  Once I finished with the markers I went over the petals with Bumblee and Daffodil pencils.  The finally product I love.  I love how much deeper the colors look.  I added some details with Crystal effects and the Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle pen which doesn't show up very well in the photo but is gorgeous in real life.  The Happy Birthday is from Crafter's Companion Glamour Signature Collection from Sara Davies that just recently aired on HSN.  I took my yellow Sparkle pen and colored a second of Spectrum noir watercolor paper and then die cut the sentiment.  I did one in the yellow and two in just white.  I applied Stick It adhesive paper to the back of my watercolor paper before I die cut the sentiment to make it a little easier to adhere the sentiments together.  I layered the two white Happy Birthday's together first and then put my Sparkle one on top.  Once I had them all together and looking the way I want, I adhered them to the bottom corner of the card base.  I added some silver Stickles to get some more sparkle on the card.  This beautiful girl is going to brighten the birthday of one my friends.  I just love how she turned out.  Thank you for stopping by.  Check back in tomorrow because I will be showing different foil products from Gina K and Thermo Web as well some of the foil products from Crafter's Companion.  I am hoping to have some sneak peeks for this week from what is coming to HSN on August 16th.  Thank you again for your visit.  Come and create something with me.
