Foil Play

Happy Easter Stampers!

I have an exciting card to share today.  I know that it has been quite some time since I have posted life has been crazy but I have made a promise to my self that I would craft more and share.  I have several blogs and you tube channels that I stalk and one of them is www.jennifermcguireink.com.  She has posted several videos about using the craft foil and cards.  After watching  this video http://www.jennifermcguireink.com/2015/02/video-easy-gold-foil.html, I purchased the laminating machine she used along with  Thermoweb Deco Foil.  Yesterday's video from Jennifer sent me right to my craft table.  I used Stampin' UP! Blended Bloom and  Ranger Clear Embossing powder to make this images using the purple and rainbow foil.  The photos do not do justice to how
shiny this looks with the foil on it.  I was so happy with this success that I tried another technique that Jennifer showed in her video.  She took a background stamp and did a tone on tone foil.  This technique I will need to practice more or maybe use a different background stamp but you can see in the pictures where I didn't get a solid image stamped so the embossing powder didn't stick which meant that neither did the foil, however, for my first attempt I am pretty happy.  I am practicing because I want to use this technique to make some Thank you notes as a gift.  Here are the samples of the back ground examples.  Flush from my success, I put together a quick card.  I used Wisteria Wonder from Stampin' UP! and the "just because" sentiment from a Dozen Thoughts.  I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black ink from Memento on to white card stock and flagged the ends with my scissors.  I trimmed the main image with black card stock and used 1/4 inch square black pop dots to lift the image.  I mounted that on my sample background with the plain purple foil. This was the best one of the two and the image covers most of the blank spots and you don't really notice the rest because of how shiny it is.  Love this technique and will be doing more.  I took Jennifer's advice and used a line image rather than something more solid.  I might experiment with some of the left over pieces of foil.  I will share pics if I do.  If you are interested in the products I used, you can find the laminator  B008587M1Y on Amazon.  It is the same one Jennifer uses and it very inexpensive.  I also purchased my foil from Amazon.  I used Thermoweb Deco Foil which comes in a variety of colors.  Thank you for taking the time to take a peek.  Have a great day!  Get creative today.
