It’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus

Hey Stampers!  Welcome to another challenged from Southern Girls.  The challenge is dark/a little spooky.  The sponsors are Lia Stampz and I am Roses.  My image is from Lia Stampz.  This image is actual called Science but I used it for Halloween.  I used some papers from a Doodlebug Designs release from two years ago, I think.  I colored my kitty with C5,C7,C9 and 100.  The mouse is C1, C2,  the "potion" is YG23 and YG25.  His protective eye wear is C2 and C5.  I used green bubbles from Queen and Co. along the right side above the mouse.  The spiderweb stamp is from the dollar bin at Michael's from a loooooong time ago.  The sentiment is from the Fright Fest kit from Queen & Co.

Please check the Southern Girls blog for all the rules.  I hope you will play along with us.  Thank you for stopping by and I have you have a great day.

TIC TAC TOE= New Challenge at Southern Girls Blog.

Hey Stampers!  I know it has been a minute since I have posted but today I have a new challenge for you from the Southern Girls Challenge Blog.  We are playing TIC TAC TOE this week.   Here is your board choices.

I choose Bling, Die Cut, and Ink.  I will be honest with you.  I never really understood challenges like this.  When I started on the DT for Southern Girls, the light came on and now I love TIC TAC TOE challenges.  So let's talk about the card.

I am in Halloween card mode.  I love to make Halloween cards  so when I saw this tic tac toe.  I knew I had the perfect supplies.   I used the Fright Fest Shaker card kit from Queen and Co.  I looked at the Queen and Co site and it doesn't appear that the kit is available right now.  However they a new great Halloween kit that would be just as fabulous.  All the paper, shaker pieces, and stamps came in the kit.  The only two things on this card not included in the kit, is the glossy dots in the top left corner and the black peel offs around the center image.  The BOO die also comes in the kit and I cut it out of orange patterned paper.  The bling colors I used were orange, green, and purple, and some black.   The letters are good size so you can really fill it up with the bling.  The sentiment "There is a scare in the Air", I thought complimented the BOO!

So that is my card for today.  Please hop over to the blog and check out the rules for the challenge and play along.  Krafter's Kart is our sponsor this week.   Thank you for stopping by.

Dear Santa (Christmas in July)

Hey Stampers!  Welcome to another challenge sponsored by Southern Girls. This image is from Oddball Art and when I first saw her, I knew I had to have this image. I know a couple of ladies who think of Halloween as their Christmas so I thought this was perfect for this challenge. The actual challenge is “a little bit dark”. I am not sure that I stayed inside the challenge but I love how my card turned out so that works right.

My image is called Sandra the Christmas Witch.  So at first I wasn’t sure if I wanted to color her Christmas or Halloween.  So I went to the site for inspiration and the card on the site did her in Christmas but with a little Halloween. I loved it so that is what I did.

So I colored the images with my Copics and here is what I used

Dress and hats R27,R29
Band on Witches Hat YR06, R02
Tree, holly, and stripes G07, G14
Hair and the familiar Y11, Y13, Y15, Y17 Boots C0 and C1, Broomstick and antlers E57,Broom YR24 and YR27.

For the tiny lights I used my Yellow Bird Glitter Drops from Nuvo.  For the skull and the trim on her dress and the hats I used C00 and C0.  As a finishing touch on Sandra, I took my glossy accents to make her lenses look more like real glasses.

I printed the image on some white 110 pound card stock.  I didn't want to fussy cut the image because of all the little details.  So I decided to try and make her look like she was glowing.  So I used my Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink first being careful not to get ink on the colored images.  Then I covered it with the Splash from Hero Art which is one of the new reactive inks.  I left just a little bit of the Twisted Citron showing which gives her the glow I was looking to achieve.  For a sentiment I wrote "Dear Santa"... will a EK Success Journaling pen and on the inside of the card I wrote "I Tried" cause she is witch after all.

I used Christmas papers from my stash but to make sure they didn't clash, I covered them with the same inks that I used to create my background on the main image card.

So this is my project for today.  I hope you enjoyed it and will play along with us for this challenge.  Hop over to the blog to check out the other design team inspiration.

Stripes in flight.

Hey Stampers!  Welcome to  another challenge for the Southern Girls Challenge Blog. This week team Lou is bringing a stripes challenge. Our sponsors are A Day for Daisies and Krafter's Kart. So my image is obviously cancer driven. I fell in love with this image as soon as I saw it.  My butterfly is colored with the ribbon colors of cancers that have affected my personally.  I wish it was blank but  as you can see it isn’t.   I just googled cancer ribbon colors and then made my choices. I picked the following cancers to highlight. Breast, ovarian, melanoma, thyroid, lung, pancreatic,  bones, childhood, and cervical. I framed the the base in pink and then again in black. These two colors represent breast cancer and melanoma. These two impacted me greatly as my mom died from breast cancer and my dad from melanoma.  I don’t mean for this to be sad. This represents hope to me, hope that we will someday not need ribbons because they will all be gone. Please pop over to Southern Girls and take a look at the inspiration and play along

Add some ribbon, lace, or washi tape

Hey Stampers!  I know it has been a minute since I posted anything.  I started a new job at the beginning of the month and brain has been mush.   But I am back today with another challenge from Southern Girls Challenge.  This week is add ribbon, lace, or washi tape to your project.  Our sponsors are The Paper Shelter and Krafters Kart.  I am using an image from The Paper Shelter, Rosie,  I colored her with my Copics.  Her dress and headband I used RV34 and RV63.  Hair is E33, E37, and E39.  Boots are E55, E57, and E59.  Skin is E21 and E02.  I covered her dress and headband with my Spectrum Noir Clear Sparkle pen.  The card base is A2 size, top folding card.  I used some Picked Raspberry Distress Oxide ink to give her a pink halo.  I used a makeup brush that I purchased off Amazon.  The washi tape is Carta Bella Flower Bouquet (which I discovered is discontinued)  The card base is Cotton Candy from Simon Says Stamp.  To give my washi tape a more finished look, I used my gold Peel Offs  to frame it. The flowers are from my stash.  They look like little pom pom's.  The sentiment is from The Rabbit Hole stamp set, Sassy Sentiments.  I love how this came together.  The great thing about doing challenges, is you get pushed outside your comfort zone.  I hope you will participate with us this week.  Keep in mind you don't have to use products from the sponsors, you just have to add ribbon, lace, or washi tape to  your project.

This is project for today.  Thank you for stopping by.

Hoppy Birthday

Hey Stampers!  Welcome to my pad!  It has been a minute since I have posted.  Things have been a little crazy and for awhile my mojo took a vacation so it was very hard for me to create things I liked.

Today's project is for Southern Girls Challenge.  This week's sponsors are Lia Stampz and Three Button Studio.  My image comes from Lia Stampz and is called Hoppy Birthday  I printed my image on Neenan Solar Crest 110# card stock.

I watch a lot of videos on YouTube, as I am sure you all do too.  One of my favorites is Kelly Latevola.  She is always encouraging us to be brave.  I have seen her hand draw elements on her cards.  So I decided I wanted my frog on a lily pad but the image doesn't come with one so I drew one for him.  I think it turned out great if I do say so myself.  I colored everything with my Copic markers.  I didn't right them down this time I am so sorry about that.  I took some droplets from my stash that are the perfect green and blue color and placed them down with some liquid glue.  I added some Ebony Nuvo drops to his eyes and some icicles to the party hat and the heart.  I added some sparkle to the water but it doesn't show up in the photo.

So that is my project for today.  I hope you will check out the Southern Girls Challenge blog and play along for a chance to win a prize from this week's sponsors.

Make a Wish!

Hey Stampers!  Welcome to another Try Stampin' on Tuesday guest post.  I used the sketch only in this card.  All my supplies for my card today came from the March Flavor of the Month kit from Scrapping for Less.  The dots are from Pink and Main.  I was going to use some Nuvo Drops in a blue that matched perfectly but it exploded.  (I am so glad that nothing got on the card.).  My base is a standard A2 top folding card.  I added some Yellow Bird Nuvo glitter drops to the flames of the candles.
Which unfortunately didn't photograph very well.  This card was super quick because I didn't do any stamping or coloring.  My circle is approximately 3 1/2".  The panel behind the circle is 2 1/2" wide and the length of the card base.  Those two pieces are trimmed in red card stock to give some layers and separation so everything doesn't blend all together.  My circle and cake are popped up with foam tape and that is all I really did.  This card is ready to give to someone.  Pop over to Try Stampin' on Tuesday and enter the challenge today.  I have two more weeks as a guest designer so come back next week for the new challenge.  Thank you for stopping by.
