Happy Haunting

Hey stampers!  Things in my life have finally settled down.  I have been sick that last couple of weeks so my energy level has been low.  I am FINALLY starting to feel better so I actually have a post for you today.  This card features the die-namics from MFT; Spooky House and Spooky Scene.   I cut the house from black card stock and it is from the new set Spooky House.  The tree and ghosts are from the Spooky Scene and are cut from silver glitter/shimmer paper that I had in my stash.  The moon is a yellow shimmer paper also from my stash and from the Spooky House die set.  I backed the windows of the house with the yellow shimmer paper and began to build the card.  I adhered the tree down first.  Then I positioned the house so the tree is behind it, the house is popped up with foam tape for some dimension.  One ghost is out of the house is ready for some hauting and the other one is coming out.  The moon is behind the tree.  The greeting is from the September Paper Pumpkin kit.  I LOVE this little stamp set so expect to see some more appearances of this set.  The bats are from a retired set, that is meant to use to make invitations.  I put clear Wink of Stella on the bats.  I also tapped my Wink of Stella pen to give the appearances of stars because it is a clear spooky night.  I trimmed the greeting with more of the yellow shimmer paper.  This is standard A2 card.  Thanks for stopping by.  Come and create with me.

Simple Hugs

My card today is pretty simple.  I used my last piece of Audrey Blue from the Simon Says Stamp card kit for September.  I cut the big Hugs die using a piece of silver glimmer paper.  I wanted that pop of sparkle.  Then I took the Hugs that I die cut that I showcased in yesterday's post and did some inlaid die cuts.  I did a top folding card but did the card horizontally.  This card would be a good card to send to someone who is having a hard time or just to let someone know you were thinking of them.  I didn't stamp anything on the inside yet because I don't know how I will use the card yet.  This is pretty short and simple post mostly because I have a cold that my loving husband gave me and I am not feeling the best but wanted to do a quick post to for you.  Thanks for stopping by.  Andi

Just Playing Around

Good Morning and happy Saturday.  Today's post isn't a card yet but I wanted to show you guys something I did last night.  A few weeks ago Jennifer McGuire shared this card and die.  I had to have it.  It is from Papertrey Ink and when I saw it I thought you only got the large hugs and boy was I surprised when I saw what you all get. Papertrey Ink - Big Hugs Die
So last night I wanted to play with these so I took some watercolor paper and my Zig Clean Brush Markers and sat down to play.  I picked out some colors and laid down some color on the watercolor paper.
Pink is 025 and 026.  Purple is 030 which is Blue and 080 which is Violet

Orange is Carmine Red 022, Orange 070 and  Yellow 050
Blue is Blue Gray, Persian Blue, and Blue

I put down the colors and then took my Aqua Painter and blended them out.  I used the white Gesso that came in my September Simon Says Stamp kit.  It is pretty thick so I diluted it with water and took a paint brush and tapped white speckles onto the all the color swatches.  On the purple one, I took my clear Wink of Stella pen and squeezed out some of the glitter and took another paint brush and added glitter spots by tapping the brush.  You don't need very much of the glitter from the pen because it very liquid and it dries really fast so you don't want to use too much.  Once you are done with the Gesso paint brush rinse right away to get all the Gesso out.  I let everything dry for probably two hours and then I pulled out my Big Shot and turned the above photos into this.

The big Hugs is very delicate once you die cut so you might want to add a layer to make it stronger which was a little difficult but I did without tearing it.  When I did the swatches I wasn't sure  how it would turn out but I LOVE them.  My favorite is the big Hugs.  I love how it turned out and I will be making cards with them in the next couple of days.  I also included the link for Jennifer's video.  Enjoy!  Thanks for stopping by.

Another MFT submission

This card uses the Polynesian Paradise set.  I used the turtle, small leaf, the small and large flower that I think is plumeria.  I used the matching die-namics set.  I made a small mistake and cut the flowers and things after I had stamped and colored them.  Because the die-namics are not just frames it is better to cut the pieces first and then do your stamping.  It does take some practice to get it right so I always cut more than I want to use.  So I fussy cut everything to take away my die cutting mistakes.  I then took a black marker to cover the white edges on everything.  I used watercolor paper because I used my Zig Clean Brush markers to color the i mages.  The card stock is from the September SSS kit of the month.  It is the Audrey Blue piece.  I cut the piece to 4 1/4 x 11 and then scored it at
5 1/2.  I stamped the sentiment.  "Warm Wishes & Sunny Smiles" and then I arranged the flowers and leaves around it.  I colored them with the Zig markers and then used water to move the color.  I used 050 Yellow on the top left large flower, the bottom left large flower was colored with 080 Violet, the top right flower was colored with 031 Cobalt Blue and 032 Persian Blue, bottom right flower is colored with 070 Orange.  The small flower on the left was colored with 025 Pink and the final small flower was colored with 092 Blue Gray.  All the leaves were colored with 040 Green and I put a base of 041 light green down first.  I used my aqua painter for all of the water coloring.  On the inside of the card I stamped "sending saltwater kisses"  I put one small flower colored with Yellow and one large flower again with the Blue Gray.  The turtle is colored with 043 Olive Green and his shell was colored with 072 Beige and added some 062 Dark Brown.  I used my Sharpie white paint pen to add dots in the centers of the flowers and on the turtles check and shell.  I covered the flowers with my clear Wink of Stella pen.  Then I covered                                                                 the turtle shell with glossy accents and the large blue gray                                                                       flower as well.  I purchased this set because I thought the                                                                       turtle was so stinking cute but fell in love with it because of                                                                   the images and sentiments.  I love all things MFT.
Thanks for stopping by and come again.

Some more submissions for the MFT Card Super star contest

My first card uses the Jingle All The Way stamp set and the matching dies and the interactive Window trio.  The trio window I got for free during the August release.  Now this is an interactive window because each window is suppose to have a flap over it.  However, I had a stamping accident and I will be honest, I didn't want to start over so I tore the flaps off as they are perforated when it is die cut. I didn't realize until I was all finished assembling my card that the white of the perforation shows in the window above the Santa.  But the little imperfections make handmade cards the best, right!  The Jingle All The Way set has these three different Santa's in the set as well as both sentiments that I used.  Here is a link for the set.  I love this set and it will be the star of my Christmas cards this year.  This is a very popular set so sometimes it is sold out but you can sign to be notified when it is back in stock and I do that all the time.  The card stock is from last year's Simon Say Stamp Card of the Month kit.  I believe it was the December kit.  The snowflakes on the "Merry Everything" piece of card stock are sparkly but my camera doesn't pick it very well.  A new camera is on my Christmas list.  The big silver sequins and the snowflakes are from a set that I got from Stampin' UP! unfortunately it is a retired item but you can get a lot of great sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.  Finally I attached this piece to a base of Real Red card stock from Stampin' UP!.I colored my Santa's using my colored pencils and odorless mineral spirits or Gamsol.  Then I covered his suit, hat, and beard with clear Wink of Stella.  Very sparkly in real life.

My second card uses the "Merry" die cut as well as the Jingle all the way stamp set.  I wanted to make a shaker card but wasn't sure how to accomplish that and still use my die cut so the first card was the practice.  I used Real Red card stock cut at 4 1/4 x 5 1/2.  I put the die at angle and put it through my Big Shot.  I backed the Merry with the sparkly snowflake paper.  I used the tree from the Jingle All The Way set.  I colored it using the same technique as I used for the Santa's, putting clear Wink of Stella on the star.  I used the sentiment "Merry Everything" but only stamped the word "everything.  I really wanted to make a shaker card so I did some "noodling" about how to make it happen.  I cut the die again on the same size card stock as this first card and then I took a second piece of card stock in that same size, I used my Scotch foam tape to create a frame around the card stock.  I did two layers of foam tape so my sequins and snowflakes had plenty of room to shake.  I put all that sequins that I wanted in to the frame and then laid a piece of thin acetate over it.  As you can see it the last two pictures there is an edge of silver sparkle paper.  I used this to cover the foam  tape along the sides of the card.  I used the "everything" sentiment again.  I used the same snowflakes and silver sequins to decorate the front of the card because it looked kind of bare.  I hope you like my cards.  I might do one more card using another stamp set I have so check back again.  Thanks for stopping by.  Andi.

My First entry for the MFT Superstar Card contest

This is my first entry in the MFT Superstar card contest.  I love Halloween cards.  This card uses only MFT Die-namics.  I used the house, moon, tree, and clouds from the August release called Spooky House and the the "boo" and the ghosts are from Spooky Scene.  I am building my supplies of MFT products but I don't have any of their card stock yet so my card stock is from other sources.  I used Black Onyx card stock for the base of the card and the house.  I took the house die and when I ran it through my Big Shot, I only cut part of the house and then I cut the a full house out of another piece of black.  I used a shimmer Yellow from Recollections which is a brand that Michael's carries.  I used it for the windows and door in the house and the moon.  .  The tree, the clouds, and the "boo" are cut out from a silver glimmer paper from Recollections.  I used the yellow to back the boo as well so it would stand out against the black house.  The ghosts are cut from white card stock and I used my clear Wink of Stella to give them some shimmer, the photo didn't pick it up very well.    The house and the moon are popped up with the Scotch foam tape.  Everything else is adhered down with tape runner.  I like how everything came together.  I can submit five cards and I am going to try and make five cards.  Check back tomorrow and I will have have my stamped submission for the contest.  Thanks for stopping by.  Andi..

My Paper Pumpkin August 2015

I finally had some time to sit down and play with my Paper Pumpkin from August.  I only left one of the boxes in tact.  I cut the other two down to use the gold polka card stock.  I made a couple different cards.  I love the the cards in this kit but I felt it was a waste to use them as the card bases.  So I folded the cards and trimmed the card at the fold.  So instead of 3 of each pattern I now have 6 each.    I love the pink flowers but I don't really like the "centers" for the flowers so I took the squiggly circle and stamped it in the center of the flower.  I punched a 1" circle in black card stock and edged it with the craft white and that became the center for my flower.  For my card bases I used some of the SU note cards that I had on hand.  I used the craft ink to edge the black pieces that I used to make the tags.  On the first card I trimmed the gold and pink bow paper with some black card stock. The black ribbon also comes in the kit this month and used that on a couple of cards.  In the second photo, I used the cheater bow technique and of all the cards I made I think this one is my favorite.  I think it looks very elegant.  I will have some more photos tomorrow and will be showing the Simon Says Stamp September kit and some projects from that.  I will also be showing some new goodies that I got from the August release of MFT stamps. So please make sure to stop back by.
Thanks for stopping by. Andi.
